My husband, daughter and I were sitting on the deck at a table with a glass top playing Zonk, a game played with five dice. We have several sets, so everyone picks a set and keeps them through the entire game, rather than passing the same five dice to each player.
I was playing exceedingly horrible. They had both passed 5,000 points before I finally rolled 1,000 (the minimum to initially get on the board). It takes 10,000 points to win. So to entertain myself, I kept threatening to “jinx” them by touching their dice.
My daughter was being very protective of her dice. Every time I even thought of touching one of her die, she gave me a swat. Always ready to play a prank, I decided to take advantage of the clear glass table. I made several fake swings towards her dice and received a small, quick slap for each one of them. Satisfied that she was in good reaction mode, I waited until she rolled her dice.
As soon as the dice left her hand I reached under the table and made as though I was touching her dice. Quickly and soundly she slapped at my hand… and met only table. My husband and I got a good laugh out of it. The best part is I pulled my hand back and when she took her next roll, I did it again with the same results. Of course this brought on more laughter. We kept picking on her about it, but she refused to rise to the bait a third time – darn it.
